Hope Exists After Loss H.E.A.L.

With Char Johnson,

Grief & Therapeutic Art Coach

& Grieving Mother

After losing my son, I faced the kind of grief that often goes unacknowledged,

judged, misunderstood, or quietly dismissed.

From this deeply personal journey came the Keep On Living - H.E.A.L - Circlesa movement for Mothers, Fathers and couples, especially those grieving stigmatized loss from violence, suicide, or overdose. In this space, you are seen, supported and uplifted.

Through circles, creative tools, and resources, we honor your child’s legacy while helping you keep moving, keep breathing, and keep on living.

Our Mission

Hi, I’m Char Johnson — Certified Grief Coach and Therapeutic Art Coach.

I hold space for women navigating deep, complicated grief after the loss of a child from overdose, suicide, violence, addiction or any other stigmatized death.

The Keep On Living H.E.A.L. - Resilient Mothers Circle, and Bereaved Mothers Circle, are healing movements for mothers learning to live with grief instead of around it.

In these circles, we gather virtually to color, reflect, and breathe in a space where nothing needs to be explained, only honored.

This is your invitation to exhale. To grieve out loud. To be witnessed.

You are not alone. Your story matters. Your healing is still possible.

  • Realize you’re not the only one carrying this kind of grief

  • Release some of the guilt, shame, and “what will people think?”

  • Learn gentle tools to calm your body and mind (breath, art, reflection)

  • Feel more grounded, hopeful, and encouraged to keep on living

  • Start to believe: “I can grieve deeply and still move forward.”

Certified Therapeutic Art Coach & Grief Coach

What is a Grief Coach?

A Grief Coach is someone trained to support individuals who are experiencing loss, not through clinical therapy, but through compassionate guidance, emotional validation, and future-focused support.

Grief coaches help you process emotions, identify what's keeping you stuck, and gently walk beside you as you rediscover purpose and create new meaning after loss.

Grief coaching doesn’t ask you to “move on.” It helps you move forward at your own pace, with your story honored every step of the way.

What is a Therapeutic Art Coach?

A Therapeutic Art Coach uses creative exercises like drawing, coloring, journaling, and symbolism to help people explore and release emotions.

The focus isn’t on making “perfect” art. It’s about using the creative process as a tool for healing, self-awareness, and inner peace.

This approach is especially powerful for grief, when words are hard to find or when emotions feel too big to express directly.

How do they work together?

Grief, especially after child loss or stigmatized death, isn’t something you can “think” your way through. It lives in the body. It silences your voice. It makes it hard to even know what you’re feeling.

That’s why I combine the grounding support of grief coaching with the expressive release of therapeutic art.

This isn’t about fixing you.
It’s about making space for what you’re carrying.
It’s about offering you a quiet, creative way to reconnect with your own soul and story at your own pace.

Whether you’re coloring, journaling, or simply listening in our grief circle, you’re doing sacred work.
And I’m honored to walk alongside you.

Testimonials

"Char created a space where I didn’t have to explain my pain. She just got it. The workbook helped me sit with my emotions in a way I’d never been able to before. Her words, her presence, and her prompts helped me feel like I could breathe again. For the first time since losing my son, I felt like I belonged somewhere."
Monique R., Mother of Jaylen

"The coloring pages and journal prompts brought me back to myself. I didn’t think I could feel peace again, but there was something so soothing about being guided gently by someone who’s walked this path. Char’s coaching and the Planted in Peace Workbook reminded me that healing doesn’t mean forgetting, it means honoring."
Trina L., Grieving Mother

After my daughter passed, people stopped calling. I felt ashamed to talk about how she died. Char held space for my whole truth. I cried. I laughed. I colored. I use the Planted in Peace workbook at least once a week. It saves me from falling apart."
Angela D., Mother of Shayla
